The parish of The Stukeleys in Huntingdonshire including the villages of Great Stukeley and Little Stukeley.

Great Stukeley straddles the old Roman Road of Ermine Street a couple of miles to the north of the town of Huntingdon with its smaller partner, Little Stukeley, a mile further north at what was once the junction of Ermine Street with a road to Abbots Ripton that was closed when the airfield at Alconbury was built. The two villages are contained by the airfield of former RAF Alconbury to the north east and by the A14 trunk road to the south west. With such good transport links and potential employment opportunities as a result of the commercial development of the former airfield it is likely that the two villages will see much change over the coming years.

At Great Stukeley a dignified Georgian Hall stands in a parkland setting. Manor Farm, Washingley Farm and a number of other residences date from the 17th and 18th centuries. At Grange Farm there are fragments of 12the century masonry. There are two Tumuli, one on either side of Ermine Street and a fine moated enclosure in Priestley Wood at the head of Owl End Lane.

The church at Great Stukeley dedicated to St Bartholomew possesses an impressive Perpendicular tower with grotesque carvings. The inscribed sundial indicates only afternoon hours. The nave, aisles and chancel are mainly of the 13th century.

The village of Little Stukeley, near Alconbury Brook, is believed to have been the birthplace of Henry of Huntingdon. He was a notable Norma historian who supervised the building of the original church here. The Swan and Salmon, formerly a public house, is now an interesting brick residence dating back to 1676.

The church at Little Stukeley dedicated to St Martin was largely rebuilt in the 16th century but does still retain some late Norman features.

The Stukeleys is one of the parishes of the District of Huntingdonshire, whose administrative centre is Huntingdon, the other principle towns being St Ives home of the Chapel on the Bridge, St Neots the largest town in the County of Cambridgeshire, the Roman town of Godmanchester and Ramsey site of the former Abbey.
